More
than 30,000 of us have served in military peacekeeping
operations. Most books written on the subject portray
peacekeeping service as the military authorities would
like it to be - not as it really is.
"The Long Way Home" is a contribution to the UN peacekeepers'
own story of their service -for better or worse.
The book gives a multi-faceted account of the service,
including its dark side. When the history of the peacekeeping
forces is written, this book must be included as part
of the true story. Former soldiers surely will relate
to the book and enjoy reading it. Family and friends,
as well as upcoming UN soldiers, will also find it fascinating
and helpful reading.. |

From
a reader:
... have sat and read your book for 2 hours, cried
a little, read some more and feel pretty miserable…but
thank you for telling your story... |

"The
shouting from the interrogation room began again. Finally,
it was too much for me, and I moved in closer. Just had to
see what they really were doing in there. I opened the door.
Norheim had his hands tightly around the throat of the thin
Lebanese and had lifted him up from the chair he had been
sitting in. To the right of him sat Semb. He smiled when he
saw me. The Lebanese was handcuffed and kicking his feet wildly.
No wonder. He was being strangled. Norheim noticed that someone
had come in, set the prisoner back down in his chair and turned
his back to me.
